Dr. Thomas Harding PsyD, M.A.

Clinical Director, Forensic Neuropsychologist, Neuroscientist, Author

Dr. Thomas Harding is a licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist with 20 years of experience in the assessment and treatment of disorders in the Geriatric and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) populations. He first started in the field of Neuroscience at the University of Hawaii where he studied the effects of stress on the brain and neurodegeneration. After completing his Master’s in Neuroscience, he changed programs and obtained his Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University- Hawaii. He entered a Joint Clinical Internship program in Omaha Nebraska working at a Post-Acute TBI Rehabilitation Center. Part of his Internship included a Rotation at Mercy Hospital in Iowa where he started his work assessing dementia with seniors.

Dr. Harding returned to Hawaii and served as Vice-Chair of the Hawaii State Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board, Department of Health. He began working for the DOH, as the Chief of Forensics at the Hawaii State Hospital, while simultaneously continuing his research into dementia and neurodegeneration. He then published his book, “You CAN Prevent Alzheimer’s!: A Neuropsychologist’s Secrets to Better Brain Health.”

He also collaborated with a group of neurologists and created a Neuropsychology Department within a private clinic to provide neuropsychological assessment and treatment for the Geriatric and TBI populations. His Department provided Diagnostic, Therapy, and Internship training for Doctoral level Psychology students.

He has assisted his wife in providing care for his father-in-law who had vascular dementia and returned to the islands, as the Maui County Forensics Chief ( now retired) and opened Maui Memory Clinic. In his youth, he was in a car accident where he sustained a head injury and has since rehabilitated his brain. He has walked the walk and he can help you too.

Dr. Harding has made numerous guest appearances on TV and Radio Talk Shows educating audiences on dementia-related topics. He’s a frequent speaker at conferences for AARP, care-giver organizations, churches and civic organizations, providing brain health seminars.

His community service has also been recognized by the Hawaii Senate, and he is the recipient of the Outstanding Community Mental Health Leader Award by Mental Health America of Hawaii.
